Primary Source Dig

Now is the opportunity to delve deeply into first-person accounts of men and women who served in the First World War as stretcher bearers, ambulance drivers, chaplains, nurses, and doctors.

Those first-person accounts directly from people who served in these roles are primary sources. Primary sources are the most important records historians use to better understand past events.

The accounts you are about to read are at once interesting and devastating. As you review them, take care to read the information above each account to better understand the source. You'll be asked about them at the end of this module.
