Carrie looking at Dominic with the word friendship

“Regardless of Dominic’s abilities or diagnoses or anything like that, no one considers that. It has nothing to do with who he is. He is truly just the nicest and most caring person that I have ever met in my entire life. Dominic is really just a good friend to me. What I feel when I’m with Dominic is what I want everyone to feel, because this is how I want every school to be.”

Carrie, Copresident with Dominic, Unified Club

Overview

In this course, we’re going to use the quiz feature in Canvas to facilitate a personal journal to capture your thoughts about the topics we’re covering. No one other than your teacher will see your posts. As you move through the modules and prepare to take part in class discussions, you’ll be prompted to use your journal to record your reactions and responses to the reflection prompts, as well as to capture your perceptions about what you’re experiencing.

While the journal activity is listed as a quiz assignment, there aren’t “right or wrong” answers. Instead, we’d like you to use these journal assignments to reflect on the topics we’re covering in the course. The aim is to show evidence of preparation - including having viewed the course materials - through original, substantive, and meaningful reflections (e.g., not a “copy/paste” from other sources).
